Camera and drone rentals in Buckeye

Buckeye is the far west edge of the delivery map, thirty-five minutes to Verrado and forty to downtown, and it is where the Valley runs out of city and into open road. Sun Valley Parkway runs for miles as a divided four-lane road around the west and north sides of the White Tanks, which is why automotive crews and their car mounts head here, and Skyline Regional Park's 8,700 acres are the desert establishing shot.

Shooting in Buckeye

Open road, new communities and the White Tanks.

The new communities tell the other half of the story. Verrado's Main Street, Festival Ranch, Tartesso and Teravalis are still building, and the builder and real estate shoots there want wide glass, a gimbal and a drone. A multi-day shoot out here is where the fourth day free earns its keep.

01

Sun Valley Parkway and the open road

Miles of empty four-lane parkway with the White Tanks behind it. Rolling shots, drive-bys and drone follows for dealers, manufacturers and music videos. The Tilta Hydra car mount, wireless lens control and a chase-car monitor are the order, with a drone where the airspace is clear, which out here it mostly is.

02

Verrado, Tartesso and the builder films

Verrado's Main Street district, the Founder's and Victory golf courses and the model homes open at Floreo in Teravalis are ready-made sets for real estate and community films. Wide Vespid primes, a gimbal for the slow interior move and Nova panels to lift a model home without fighting its windows.

03

Skyline Regional Park and the desert plate

8,700 acres of the southern White Tank Mountains, two miles north of the I-10 on Watson Road, and a big-desert backdrop on the West Valley's edge. Trails run sunrise to sunset and the gates close at 10pm, so the shoot runs on the park's clock: bring extra V-mount packs and a case that keeps dust out of a lens change.

The kit Buckeye shoots pull

The Buckeye open-road kit

Tilta Hydra car mounting system, Sony FX6 with the Vespid 25 and 50mm, Nucleus-M wireless lens control, DJI Transmission for the chase car, the DJI Mavic 4 Pro for the follow shot, six V-mount packs because the parkway has no power to plug into, and a 12x12 frame with a rag for the interview at the trailhead. Rent it four days or more and the fourth day is free.

Good to know

Buckeye questions, answered.

Delivery is quoted separately once you book, based on where the set is, and Buckeye is one of the longer runs on the map, so expect more than a Peoria drop. On a rental of four days or more the fourth day is free, which helps a multi-day Buckeye shoot carry the trip.

The parkway sits in mostly uncontrolled airspace, away from Luke Air Force Base's zone, so a Part 107 pilot can usually fly without an authorization. Skyline is a City of Buckeye park with its own rules, so check with the parks department before the shoot. Buckeye Municipal Airport, to the south, is a non-towered field with no controlled airspace at the surface, so the job there is watching for its traffic, not filing for it.

Change lenses inside the case or the car, never in the wind, keep bodies bagged between setups, and blow off the sensor area before every change. The gear comes in hard cases with foam for exactly this, and the condition check at return is easier on everyone when the case did its job.
